Safer Schools Partnership
Humberside Police work with schools, colleges, and other partners within our region with the overall purpose of ensuring young people, staff, parents and visitors to the school have a safe environment in which to study, work and visit. The partnership provides a fantastic opportunity to build more positive relationships between young people, police and partners and encourages them to develop respect for themselves and their community.
As part of an agreement developed through the partnership, a local officer is designated the role of school lead to act as a point of contact. There are several presentations to raise pupils’ awareness of specific crime issues that your Neighbourhood Policing Teams can work with school/college staff to deliver.
The head teacher and staff retain their responsibility for school discipline and behaviour and will have their own behavioural and safeguarding policies in place. The school may look to their named officer for support and advice as necessary.
Each education establishment will have varying requirements and demand and so frequency and means of contact are agreed locally between the school and the Neighbourhood Policing Team.
