The Blue Door
The Blue Door is a dedicated service providing specialist support, guidance and awareness raising of domestic abuse and sexual violence in educational settings. The role of the Independent Domestic/Sexual Violence Advocate (IDSVA) acts as a single point of contact, to support safeguarding leads and other staff members to identify and manage risk for children and young people, where disclosures or concerns have been raised.
Appropriate referrals can be made to local specialist support providers, to help people understand how domestic abuse or sexual violence has impacted on their thoughts, feelings and behaviours. The support helps them move forward from abuse by building self-esteem, encouraging healthy communication, and creating positive coping mechanisms for the future.
Some of the topics include Self-Esteem, Healthy Relationships, Anger and Assertiveness, Impact on Children, Boundaries and Trust, Losses and Gains after Ending an Abusive Relationship and Future Goals.
Visit The Blue Door website for information of how to make a referral or if you are interested in receiving training.
